One of the nation’s most influential masters of the Native American flute and Ancient Pueblo (Anasazi) flute, Scott August is a multi award winning performer, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, known for his unique mix of world and ambient music styles. His music has been featured on the nationally syndicated radio shows “Hearts of Space” and “Echoes” as well as receiving airplay on the digital networks XM, Sirius and DirecTV. He is the recipient of a Native American Music Award (with three nominations), an Indian Summer Music Award and a New Age Reporter Lifestyle Music Award.

August is also known for his in depth knowledge of both the Native American style and Anasazi style flutes. His popular workshops for these instruments are well attended throughout the country, and he has been on the faculty of the Zion Flute School, as their Anasazi instructor, since 2008. His book “Kokopelli’s Flute” is the preeminent source about the Anasazi style flute.

August was a headline performer at the 2010 Flute Quest Festival in Seattle, the 2010 Musical Echoes Festival in Florida, the 2009 and 2008 Yosemite Flute Festivals, and the 2007 and 2006 Zion Canyon Flute Festivals. In July 2005 he opened for Dr. Wayne Dyer at the International New Age Trade Show and was a musical guest at the 2005 TED conference.

John Diliberto of Echoes radio says, "August has always been a cut or two above most native flute players... He layers guitars, keyboards and all kinds of percussion into his compositions, moving from world fusion to airy ambiences."

August has also composed music and sound design for hundreds of films, commercials and video projects, for clients such as NASA, The Discovery Channel, Lexus, Chevrolet, HBO, Nabisco, and Minolta. The Los Angeles Times has called his music "shimmering and luminous."

August currently resides in Los Angeles, CA
